The Relationship Between Digital Literacy of Family Planning Acceptors and the Selection of Long-Term Contraceptive Methods In 2026

Digital technology has become an increasingly important source of reproductive health information, enabling family planning acceptors to access various contraceptive resources through websites, social media, and mobile applications. However, the widespread availability of online information does not necessarily ensure that individuals possess adequate digital literacy to critically evaluate and utilize such information when making contraceptive decisions. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the digital literacy of family planning acceptors and the selection of Long-Term Contraceptive Methods (MKJP) at the DP3AKB Office of South Halmahera in 2026. A quantitative correlational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted involving 95 family planning acceptors selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire measuring digital literacy and contraceptive method selection. Univariate analysis was used to describe respondent characteristics and study variables, while the Kendall's tau-b correlation test was employed to examine the relationship between digital literacy and MKJP selection. The results showed that most respondents had a high level of digital literacy (90.5%), and the majority selected implants (57.9%) and intrauterine devices (31.6%) as their preferred long-term contraceptive methods. Statistical analysis indicated no significant relationship between digital literacy and the selection of MKJP (p = 0.654; r = 0.044). These findings suggest that digital literacy alone does not determine contraceptive choices, as decision-making is likely influenced by other factors, including individual characteristics, counseling, and access to reliable reproductive health information. Therefore, digital family planning promotion should be integrated with comprehensive counseling and evidence-based educational strategies to support informed contraceptive decision-making and improve reproductive health outcomes.
