Breastfeeding is a fundamental strategy for improving infant survival, growth, immune protection, and neurodevelopment. Nevertheless, many postpartum mothers experience delayed lactogenesis, perceived insufficient milk supply, and inadequate maternal nutrition, all of which may compromise early breastfeeding success. This study analyzed the effect of red bean consumption on breast milk production among postpartum mothers at Budi Setia Langowan Hospital using secondary data derived from a one-group pretest-posttest design. The study included 31 postpartum mothers with complete paired measurements before and after the nutritional intervention. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test because the outcome variable was paired and ordinal. Before the intervention, 24 mothers (77.42%) were in the 10-15 mL category and 7 mothers (22.58%) were in the 16-30 mL category. After the intervention, the distribution shifted to 30-40 mL in 7 mothers (22.58%), 41-60 mL in 10 mothers (32.26%), and 61-80 mL in 14 mothers (45.16%). The mean ordinal score increased from 1.23 to 2.23, and the Wilcoxon test demonstrated a significant pretest-posttest difference (W = 0.00; Z = -4.49; p < 0.001). These findings indicate that red bean consumption was associated with improved breast milk production and may represent a practical food-based nutritional intervention in postpartum care.
